Grip: why tyres matter
Sample mission for the demo. When a truck brakes, friction between the tyres and the road slows it down. More grip means a shorter stop. Less grip, on worn tyres or a wet road, means a longer one.
Speed matters even more. Twice as fast does not stop in twice the distance: it needs about four times as far.
- More grip, shorter stop.
- Double the speed, about four times the stop.
